Watkins Glen, New York
On Friday, November 9th, 2018 the SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE HISTORIANS and
the International Motor Racing Research Center will host the fourth Annual Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium on International Motor Racing History.
This year's Symposium theme is "The Cultural Turn Meets the First Turn."
MotometerCentral™'s Founder Francis G. Clax will be one of the featured speakers. This will be Francis' third appearance in a row. He will present his topic on "Americans Enter Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing."
Americans were rather late entrants into the world class Grand Prix motorcycle roadracing series however their eventual participation changed many aspects of the racing series then and for the future. The many changes brought to the series by the Americans will be briefly but concisely discussed from a cultural perspective.
The late Michael Argetsinger was the son of Watkins Glen International Motor Racing raceway in Watkins Glen founder and former racer Cameron Argetsinger and late wife Jean.
Michael passed away in 2015.
The Michael R. Argetsinger Symposium features expert speakers from around the world.
