Despite Henry Ford's personal foray into auto racing was limited to his 1902 match race against Alexander Winton driving his "999" which he won he was no sanctioned auto racing series race car driver.  Utilizing the prize money and publicity from that race he started his third motor car company, Ford Motor Car.
